Veneto- Le Grotte di Caglieron

The Grottos of Caglieron are a series of caves, both natural and artificial. The natural cave is carved by the stream running downhill in little waterfalls ending in larger pools. The artificial caves come from the extraction of limestone using for buildings in the area as early as the 16th century. It can be seen in the doorways and building details of the old villas and mansions.

The walk is pleasantly downhill on a gravel path leading to a log walkway which gets slippery as the mist from the cascades covers it.

The little bar at a natural stopping point makes a great resting point before the steep climb back to the car by road or by the log path.
